The delegation of the Saudi-Italian Business Council received by the Mayor of Naples

The delegation of the Saudi-Italian Business Council, which includes economic operators and government representatives from Saudi Arabia, was received this morning by the mayor of Naples. The meeting, which was held in the Council Hall of Palazzo San Giacomo, was also attended by the deputy mayor and councilor for urban planning, the councilor for tourism and productive activities, the councilor for infrastructure and mobility, the councilor to the Budget, the president of the municipal council and the mayor’s chief of staff. The stop in the Municipality came to the end of the three days that the delegation dedicated to Naples with visits to the most important sites of the city and the province and with meetings with representatives of the institutions and the productive world.

In welcoming, the mayor underlined the importance of this visit at a time when the city is experiencing a phase of profound relaunch. Recalling how ancient relations between Naples and the Arab world are, he underlined how they take on a particular value even in this historical period in which establishing strong collaborations is decisive for the development of cities. Finally, he illustrated to the members of the delegation some projects underway such as the post-industrial transformation of Bagnoli and the recovery of the Real Albergo dei Poveri, within which a section of the National Archaeological Museum of Naples will be built, conceived not as a structure for the exclusive conservation of the heritage, but as a place open to the city.

The deputy mayor briefly described the city’s transformation plans which include particular attention to green aspects, in line with the objectives of the ecological transition initiated by Europe, and underlined the opportunities that can arise from the valorisation of Naples’ great public heritage. The Mobility Councilor then explained the important innovations regarding public transport with particular attention to sustainability.

The head of the delegation, Kamel Almunajjed, summarized the objectives of the visit to Naples, recalling that it is the first time that this has happened. In particular, he highlighted how the aim is to research and explore the possibilities of partnerships and exchanges of good practices, also thanks to the experience gained by many Italian companies in Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, Giovanna Della Posta, managing director of Invimit, the company of the Ministry of Economy and Finance which has the task of enhancing the value of Italian public real estate assets and which has signed a specific protocol with the Municipality of Naples for the management of some properties, which focused on the potential for mutual investments that many sectors offer, starting from tourism.

The president of the city council, in thanking the delegation for the attention shown towards Naples, hoped for the start of a mutually useful collaboration and similarly, at the end of the meeting, the mayor hoped that today’s meeting would be only the first step which can be followed by other visits to the city by the delegates to define common actions.
