Cinemaincentro and Circolo Sogni are preparing to welcome the directors Mariagrazia Contini and Vito Palmieri who will present their works on Thursday 16 and Friday 17 May at the Mariani cinema in via Ponte Marino in Ravenna.

The first appointment is part of the 100% DOC review. Mariagrazia Contini will be present on Thursday 16 May, at 6.30 pm and 9 pm, when the documentary will be presented “Men like many others” which analyzes the theme of gender violence in society. Sometimes violence kills, sometimes it is so ‘normal’, protected by the walls of everyday life, that it is invisible. In both cases, the violence is not narrated, neither by the victims nor by the perpetrators of violence. A void remains: of faces, of stories, of pain. The objective of the documentary is to give voice to a ‘narrative of violence’ through the stories of some ‘men like many others’, who experienced and suffered it, and to proceed towards the roots of male violence by investigating emblematic moments in the history of our culture (with particular reference to the twentieth century), represented by selected repertoire material.

Mariagrazia Contini she was a professor of general and social pedagogy, philosophy of education and pedagogy of childhood and families at the Faculty of Educational Sciences of the University of Bologna. You are the author of numerous books on the topic of pedagogy and education, you have made the documentaries “Non Più, Non Ancora” (2018), “I nine months later” (2021).

The second cinematographic appointment is for Friday 17 May at 9pm when the director Vito Palmieri will intervene to present the film “La second life” with Marianna Fontana, Giovanni Anzaldo, Lorenzo Gioielli, Nicola Rignanese. The protagonist of the story is Anna who arrives in Peccioli, a quiet Tuscan village where no one knows her, looking for a job, and she shows up at the newspaper library of the local library. On her CV there is no degree nor any archival experience, and instead there is a gap in time of several years: but the director of the library hires her anyway, understanding the cause of that gap: Anna (if this is the her real name) has just been released from prison.

Vito Palmierhe returns to Ravenna where he was the protagonist several times at the Corti da Sogni – Antonio Ricci festival, in competition in 2007 with the short film “Tana libera tutti” and subsequently with “Anna bello ufficio” (homage to Lucio Dalla, winner of the Mitici Critici award) , “Matilde” (selected at the Berlin International Film Festival) and “Il mondo in piazza”, with which he won the public award in 2019.

The reviews at the Mariani cinema organized by Cinemaincentro and the Sogni – Antonio Ricci club in collaboration with the Municipality of Ravenna – Department of Culture and the Fice – Emilia Romagna association.
