The most important event during the provincial football week is certainly the playout derby between Monopolies and Virtus Francavilla, which is worth survival in Group C of Serie C. Below is our usual weekly report:
Serie C – Group C
MONOPOLIES – The first leg of the Serie C playout, in which the derby between Gabbiano and Virtus Francavilla was played, ended with a draw which leaves the green and whites with a bitter taste. The team from the province of Bari, who played better and would have deserved the success, was in the lead until a few seconds from the end (following Sosa’s goal), when in the ninety-fifth minute they were joined by Montegaudo.
In the return match, scheduled for Sunday afternoon within friendly walls, a draw will be enough for Monopoli to secure safety.
Serie D – Group H
ALTAMURA – The Murgian team’s Serie D Poule Scudetto started on an uphill climb: in the first match, against Cavese, Giacomarro’s men fell by a goal to nil. Felleca’s goal was decisive, scored in the second minute of the game.
Now, for Team Altamura, it is the turn of the challenge against the undefeated Trapani. The appointment is for this afternoon at Tonino D’Angelo: kick-off is set for 3pm.
BITONTO – “We hoped to achieve our objective which we said at the beginning of the season which was salvation. Unfortunately, we didn’t do it. I use the plural because I too have made mistakes and I take responsibility for all the choices, as that’s right. Obviously, in the next few days, we will try to analyze what the mistakes were and then understand what our future will be.” These were the words, taken from the newspaper daBitonto.com, with which president Orlino commented on the painful relegation of his team to Excellence.
On the future, the president stated: “If in this period no one has come forward or has expressed the desire to acquire the club, it will be up to me to continue to carry the club forward together with those who have been by my side this year or will want to get closer, always evaluating whether there will be the conditions to start again”.
