«From the previous council just 46 million in 3 years»

Francesco Baldelli, regional councilor for Infrastructure: the three-year public works plan includes 84 total interventions. Which ones are considered priorities by the council?

«There are many works included in the Plan and, if taken individually, they are all fundamental for the reference territory, so it is difficult to exclude some of them».

You have to start from something.

«I can give some examples: for healthcare and hospital construction I mention, among other works, the new hospitals in Pesaro and Macerata and the pediatric hospice in Fano. As for the roads, the connection between the Ss16 Adriatica and Osimo, the expansion of the Sr502 Jesi-Cingoli, the connection between the A14 Porto Sant’Elpidio toll booth and the Lungotenna and the via Einaudi link road in Civitanova Marche”.

Excluding roads and hospitals?

«Three symbolic works come to mind, such as the works on the Cittadella in Ancona, those on the Monticelli bridge in Ascoli Piceno and the new car park at the regional hospital in Torrette».

Those who preceded you also focused on hospitals and infrastructural connections: what distinguishes your three-year plan from past ones?

«Just think that in 2019, before we took office, there were only 40 works planned for around 46 million euros. Today we are at 84 for over 413 million. We are talking about interventions increased not only in quantity, but above all in quality, with an average planning and economic relevance, for each individual project, higher than in the past”.

Theory must be followed by practice: what of the three-year plans you have developed so far has become reality?

«Compared to 2019, today we have increased tenfold the economic value of the works carried out, i.e. tenders carried out and works delivered to companies, going from 16 to 165 million euros».

What are the prospects now?

«Generally speaking, the Plan continues along the lines of a notable grounding of the resources of the Marche Region, presenting itself as a tool that contributes to giving a boost to the Marche economy. Compared to 2019, the per capita expenditure has gone from 31 euros to 279 euros.”
