“The Flavors of Tuscia”, a food and wine journey through the village festivals and festivals

VITERBO – It will be presented Saturday 18 Mayat 4.00pm to Viterboin Piazza San Lorenzo, on the occasion of “Assaggi” – Lazio Food and Wine Exhibition – the volume of Antonio Castello “The Flavors of Tuscia” – Food and wine journey through the village festivals and festivals.

One of a kind, the book was born from a question from the Author: “Does it still make sense to go to Sagre”. The answer is “absolutely yes”. Provided that these events, often boycotted, vilified and condemned, express their value, that is, they are programmed to promote a product directly related to the culture and traditions of the area.

However, in the belief that a festival, in addition to promoting a product or a dish, cannot be separated from the history and particularities of the place in which it takes place, the Author does not limit himself to describing the events that the Municipalities, the Associations and the Pro Loco promote throughout the year, but also provide, for each individual location, information on the prevailing economic activities, gastronomy, the history of the place and the main tourist attractions.

A “handbook”, useful for planning participatory visits to events of great socio-cultural, folkloric and spectacular interest. In a time in which the tourist practice of long trips and long stays is increasingly alternated with weekend trips and excursions (or even just one day), this volume offers opportunities and destinations full of attractions to low cost, within national borders, in a region, Tuscia, of great artistic, naturalistic and cultural charm. The Author reviews all 60 towns in the Province of Viterbo.

The book enjoys the patronage of Rieti-Viterbo Chamber of Commerceof theUNPLI (National Pro Loco Union of Italy), by Fiavet Lazio (Confcommercio) and of Assoviaggi (Confesercenti).

The author, the journalist Antonio Castello, passionate about history and popular traditions, has long been involved in the tourism sector, having worked for newspapers and specialized magazines publishing travel correspondence, special reports and articles of a political-economic nature. The experience and passion for the hidden memory of our country have contributed to the creation of this guide which aims to provide a contribution to those who are preparing to visit the Province of Viterbo and its countless centres.

The following will be present at the meeting: Francesco Monzillo – General Secretary of the Rieti-Viterbo Chamber of Commerce Carlo Hausmann – General Director of Agro Camera Vincenzo Peparello – President DMO Expo Tuscia
