Another 56,400 house numbers in Umbria will be connected with optical fibre. This is explained by Tim who, through an RTI (a temporary grouping of companies) formed with FiberCop, was awarded seven lots of the Italia 1 Giga Plan tender for a total of 10 regions, including Umbria. The investment in the region is part of the broader program of interventions envisaged by Lot 3 of the tender which also includes Abruzzo, Marche and Molise, with a total value of approximately 546 million euros of which 306 million of public contribution through Pnrr funds and 240 by the Tim Group. In Umbria the works will concern 88 Municipalities, 56 in the province of Perugia and 32 in that of Terni. To date, construction sites have already started in 18 municipalities, while the completion of the Plan is expected by June 2026.
