The Mobility Councilor of the Municipality of Cremona, Simona Pasqualireplies to the speech of the centre-right mayoral candidate Alessandro Portesani on the topic of parking and public transport, remembering that all the proposed interventions have already been implemented or are nearing completion.
“I am pleased to read that the candidate for Mayor Alessandro Portesani appreciates the corona parking policy and the use of electric buses that will cross the center because, what he defines as novelties and proposals, either already exist or are being implemented by the current Administration for unsuspecting times, therefore his words can only be interpreted as an appreciation for these choices, but they cannot be defined as a new idea or novelty.
The corona car park proposals, which include Foro Boario, Stadium, Piazzale Azzurri d’Italia, Station are proposals that have already been implemented or are under construction from at least 2022 with all the formal and concrete steps.
The shorter electric buses are on the way, the tenders from the manager have already been completed and the vehicles will arrive by 2024. The entire fleet will be replaced by 2026 through funding from the National Strategic Plan for Sustainable Mobility (PNSMS) and PNRR.
In September 2022, the Council approved a document on sustainable mobility which contained precisely these points, corona car parks – shuttles including the precise purchase program for the 32 electric buses with the respective dimensions indicated.
Document that was presented in October 2022 to the City Council and reported several times by the press.
At Christmas 2022, the InCentro shuttle departed which connects, in the Christmas shopping month, the two car parks in Piazzale Azzurri d’Italia and the Foro Boario passing through the centre. Experience successfully repeated in 2023.
The new Line L started on 9 January 2023, connecting Piazzale Azzurri d’Italia to the center and the station, with a view to reorganizing parking and mobility from the corona car parks.
On 13 May 2023, during the presentation of the first 6 of 32 electric buses, the shuttle policy was reiterated, implemented with great success for the trade fair events, for the Nougat Festival and for Christmas and reiterating the will, upon the arrival of the electric vehicles shorter, to bring the LPT back to the center, freeing some streets from the passage of buses and promoting passenger mobility.
The hospital car park is already served by the highly used Line E, which regularly throughout the day takes people from the hospital to the Po barrier, passing through the center and the station.
Last note: the car park in Via Villa Glori is a structured car park, that is, a car park directly managed by the AEM Cremona Spa company, and as much as I don’t like hearing this reason, I think it is undeniable to note that it has rained a lot and in the concrete areas, not paved, it is normal for puddles and deterioration of the pavement to form which I am sure the AEM company will promptly repair as soon as conditions allow.
I would say that these listed have been a reality in Cremona for a while.”
