Looking forward to the next one Imola Grand Prix – scheduled from 17 to 19 May – reassuring words have arrived on future of F1 in the Emilian city by local institutions.

Conviction about the Imola GP renewal: perhaps too much?

With the contract expiring in 2025 – and the possibility of recovering the edition not held last year – the hope is that the Bolognese stage will be confirmed in the calendar also subsequently.

Words of great confidence were pronounced during the press conference to present the Imola GP by the president of the Emilia Romagna region, Stefano Bonaccini:

Rest assured that the Imola Grand Prix will remain here. When we brought Imola back they told us it was impossible. After 110 years of history we brought the first stages of the Tour de France to the start and they told us not to even try because it was impossible. The Davis Cup came and they told us it was impossible because they were taking it away. We are proving many things with facts.”

Too much belief? The desire to keep F1 in Imola is certainly there, as the mayor also confirms Marco Panieri:

We can say that the future prospect is to continue investing because we want to continue to stay on the calendar with this and other initiatives, so the Imola racetrack is ready and is doing its part. We have planned 250 million investments in the city of Imola from 2020 to 2026.”

However, these statements must be based on facts. F1 is evolving with ever higher standards and for this changes are necessary.

Imola, to meet the requests, every year is presenting some news both on the track and in terms of infrastructure and organization.

This year they have been made changes to some corners of the circuit, where – as seen in the photo – the asphalt was reduced by adding gravel. The margins of error will be smaller, the challenge for the pilots will increase.

Imola, by raising the level, cultivates the hope of fans and institutions that the GP will be a success, thus giving impetus to a future in F1. And if the updates that Ferrari will bring work…
