Municipal minimum wage, the Five Star Movement of Aprilia also asks the council to discuss the motion in the city meeting
“From Bacoli, to Florence, to Livorno, to Naples to Latina, the Municipal Minimum Wage enters local administrations. At the end of April, the municipal councilor of Latina, Maria Grazia Ciolfi, registered the motion on the topic in the Pontine capital and a few days later, the 5 Star Movement of Gaeta deposited the proposal at the Municipal Secretariat. The motion – explains the Aprilian exponent of the Five Star Movement, Andrea Ragusa – is a real and long-awaited revolution for the world of work: a stop to starvation wages for those who work in contracts, sub-contracts and municipal concessions.
In the world of precarious work, especially seasonal summer work, but not only, which represents a significant portion of the work sector, the situation between precariousness, contracts and working hours not respected and negligible wages has become unsustainable for decades now.
The proposal presented by the 5 Star Movement provides for a mandatory minimum salary of €9 per hour in the contracts indicated in the tender procedures for the employees of the managers/concessionaires of assets and/or services for the institution, for the employees of the bodies participated by it, controlled, supervised and finalized by the body and to the employees of economic operators who supply goods and services who operate in the initiatives sponsored by the body.
We turn first of all to the Mayor, the Council and all the Councillors, so that they can make it their own, aware of the fact that our awareness campaign will not end here. We stand alongside workers, who have not been worthily protected for decades, and honest entrepreneurs. It is a battle of civilization – concludes Ragusa – for a serious situation that can no longer be postponed: the 5 Star Movement has already chosen which side to be on”.
