Modica – Two years ago the reception of Ukrainian minors, now “Plagiarism”

On May 12, 2022, 17 boys and girls fleeing the war, aged between 11 and 18, arrived in Modica from Ukraine. They were welcomed at Villa Tasca, in the Magnificat Village managed by the Pope John XXIII Community.

Two years later, the “Plagio” exhibition, which will be held at Palazzo De Leva in the historic heart of Modica Bassa, on May 11th and 12th, will recount the experience using the language of art. The cultural initiative was born from the collaboration between the young guests of the Magnificat Village and the artists Ignazio Monteleone and Rossella Poidomani.

The exhibition will be inaugurated tomorrow, Saturday 11 May at 6.30 pm and will have a second opening on Sunday 12 May at 9.00 pm.

Through weekly sessions dedicated to painting, young people have found in colors a tool to express their most intimate emotions and their experiences linked to the conflict.

“Plagio” exhibits the original works created by the seventeen Ukrainian boys, accompanied by their reinterpretation by the artists Monteleone and Poidomani; the event is an opportunity to recognize the support received in welcoming individual citizens and local entities.
