‘1988-2024, Italy in Frankfurt: roots and future’. This is the title of the panel organized in SalTo by Italia Guest of Honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2024. A comparison between past and future in the wake of the ‘Roots in the future’ chosen as the motto of Italian participation in the 76th edition of the Buchmesse.
“It is a great and beautiful adventure, demanding, but more beautiful than demanding – states Mauro Mazza, extraordinary commissioner of the Government for the coordination of activities connected to Italy’s participation in the Buchmesse – we are preparing the presentation of our culture, of our literature in largest cultural context in the world, not just in Europe. In October, after 36 years, we return as guests to Frankfurt and it is nice to imagine that yes, we have changed a lot, but the charm that Italy exerted on Germany and Europe on that occasion can be reiterated and renewed this year, perhaps also strengthened: because the voices we will present are many, as are the exhibitions and our events beyond the Buchmesse, beyond Frankfurt, throughout Germany, which will be truly exciting – adds Commissioner Mazza – I ask everyone, with great courtesy, to follow us with curiosity, without prejudice, because we can all have great and beautiful surprises together.”
