Elos athletes
The race of Elos paralympic sports center in Bitonto does not stop, leading the associative reality to increasingly establish itself in the local inclusive sports panorama. Thanks to the constant work promoted by federal technicians with Paralympic qualifications, by the president Franco Bonasia and by the activities contact person Vito Sasanellithe range of experiences featuring Elos athletes opens up towards new goals and many satisfactions.
During the 2023/2024 sports year, to support the continuous work in the territory through the promotion of inclusive projects in networks with local realities and institutions, there was no shortage of competitive gems strung together by Bitonto athletes: the now consolidated Italian record holder Simone Colasuonnofollowed by the coach John Zacchaeus, signs his name in the twentieth edition of the ColleMar-athon, the international marathon from Barchi di Terre Roveresche to Fano, and in the Italian Paralympic half marathon championship: a great celebration for sport which saw over 1300 runners competing from 21 different nations. During the morning of May 5, Colasuonno – already the 2022 sporting excellence of the Puglia Region – brought home the first place overall in the half marathonwinning the title with spirit and determination.
But the satisfactions do not only come from the long distance: hat-trick of medals during the Fisdir (Italian Federation of Intellectual-Relational Sports) regional athletics championships in Puglia, held in Foggia at the “Mondelli” school camp last weekend, in which paralympic sport bitontino is enriched with two gold medals in the men’s and women’s open 100 meters and a silver in the men’s open shot put. Rossella, Antonio and Flavio they carry the flag of inclusive sport high, under the spring sky of an Elos that carries out its mission with a perpetual, constant commitment, in close synergy with the territory and the online entities that share its intentions.
