The medical teams proceeded with the removal of the liver, heart, lungs, kidneys, pancreas and corneas, which were taken to the various transplant centers in various Italian hospitals. The hospital expressed its gratitude to the family for the strength shown in such a tragic circumstance.
The girl was hit in the early hours of Sunday, May 5, in via Leopardi, in the western suburbs of Naples. It was around 4.30, she was returning home by taxi: she had just got out of the vehicle a she was crossing the road when a car mowed her down. In the terrible impact, the 27-year-old’s body was thrown about thirty meters away. The young man driving fled and then returned to the scene of the accident about half an hour later. Rescued by 118, Rita Granata was taken to hospital in very serious conditions: she had suffered several fractures and internal injuries. She remained between life and death until yesterday, May 8th.
