Confcooperative Assembly 2024: Maurizio Gardini confirmed president

Maurizio Gardini, born in 1959 and president of the Gruppo Cooperativo Conserve Italia (Cirio, Valfrutta, Yoga, Derby), was reconfirmed as president of Confcooperative for the 2024 – 2028 mandate. The elective assembly, made up of around 800 delegates, representing the 17,000 participating cooperatives, was also attended by a delegation from the Trentina Cooperation Federation, with the sector vice-presidents.

Two days of debate, in which the leading exponents of the Italian cooperative sector met to discuss the challenges and opportunities of the future.

During the event, Maurizio Gardini he was confirmed president of Confcooperative, an occasion during which he put forward proposals to politicians to relaunch the country’s competitiveness: stop the “Lagarde tax“, the burden of the cost of money is unsustainable, in services only 1 in 2 companies is able to access credit; consolidate the cut in the tax wedge; investing in training and active policies to reduce the gaps in the “paradox” Italy where the employment boom is counterbalanced by a very high number of inactive people 12.3 million and NEETs 2.1 million, in addition to the mismatch, the now structural lack of professional figures which slows down the competitiveness of businesses; fight false companies of all types of companies that exploit 2.8 million workers and regularize PA payment times.

Requests made in the presence of the cardinal Matteo Zuppipresident of the CEI and addressed to the government for which the deputy prime minister spoke Tajani and the ministers Ursus, Thick, Cauldron And Locatelli.

The vice president of the Federation for the credit sector, Silvio Mucchispoke during the meeting, bringing the president’s greetings Roberto Simoni, absent for health reasons: “I am pleased with the large participation of cooperators from all over Italy. And I believe that this is the right context to underline the importance of protecting local economies, covering small communities also through peripheral bank branches, and of continuing to work to recover the proportionality of cooperative banking systems, so as to guarantee sustainable development of small territories, such as Trentino”.

An assembly, the one held in the majestic context of Rome Opera House, which represented an important platform for dialogue and exchange between cooperatives, consolidating the existing network and laying the foundations for new future collaborations. The discussions addressed crucial issues such as technological innovation, labor mismatch and the need for active employment policies.

The commitment of the Trentina Cooperation Federation and Confcooperative remains focused on strengthening cooperatives as pillars of a fair and inclusive economy, vital for the Italian economic and social fabric.
