“As Councilor for Sport and as a Novara native, I am proud of the return of women’s ItalVolley to Novara after 21 years. A period of time that is too long for a city like ours, which was able to support the Italians in the stands for not even a second, as they won 3-0 against Sweden.
I had the opportunity to pay homage to the President of FIPAV Giuseppe Manfredi with a golden dome as a souvenir of this evening and to propose to host our national team again but also other national and international volleyball events. Novara is ready and capable of hosting major sporting events and we hope to see you again soon.
The triumph of the Italian national volleyball team comes two days before the Grand Departure of the Giro d’Italia from our Piazza Martiri after 15 years and a month and a half after the return of another national team, that of rink hockey, which will play in September the World Cup right in our city, another international event that had been missing for 40 years!
These goals have arrived thanks to the many investments made by the administration in sport, investments that have allowed Novara to become the European City of Sport 2025. A year for which we will work even more intensely to do even better and consecrate our Novara as a point of reference in the national and international sporting scene.” – this is the comment of the Councilor for Sport Ivan De Grandis
