Tarquinia – The 5 Star Movement after the public debate for the choice of the final itinerary that will connect the Monteromano Ovest junction with the A12

The Orte-Civitavecchia transversal

Tarquinia – We receive and publish – In the months of February, March and April, the public debate took place for the choice of the final stretch, almost entirely in the Tarquinia area, of the Orte-Civitavecchia highway (SS675).

Government commissioner Coppa and Anas have proposed four alternatives, varying in length between 11 and 14 km, to connect the Monteromano Ovest junction with the A12: The “green” route in the Mignone Valley, which takes up with small variations the one already rejected by the TAR a few years ago and is also the longest and consumes the most land; The “blue crest” route located on the hill that separates the Mignone Valley from that of the Fosso Ranchese, in an intact landscape; to the south of the SS1bis there is the “purple” path, which in correspondence with the Turchina scrub and the Civita and Monterozzi hills includes 2 natural tunnels for a length of almost 4.5 km, does not intercept other roads and does not require additional roads; The “magenta” path which has almost 3.5 km of natural and artificial tunnels but which in the initial wooded stretch overlaps the SS1bis for almost 3 km, destroying it and destroying with it the wonderful wooded stretch of 1bis in the Macchia della Turchina.

The debate was characterized by poor participation because there was a lack of effective communication. The municipality of Tarquinia, which should have actively participated, also to involve citizens, did not submit any observations.

The M5S was present at all the sessions and drafted its observations to demand from the State the absolutely best route, without taking into account only the economic aspects, because for too many decades the Tarquinians have been subject to the easements imposed by the State: 30 km of power lines of high voltage with enormous pylons, 30 km of motorways that tear up the territory, the coal-fired power plant of Civitavecchia, the risk of becoming a national nuclear waste repository and large expanses of photovoltaic fields.

The mayor, with a fleeting appearance at the last session, spoke out for the “magenta” route, which Commissioner Coppa and Anas like, because it costs less than the “purple” but which destroys the wonderful wooded stretch of 1bis.

The M5S, making use of the support of engineer Martens, an expert in motorway design, requested and proposed a hybrid route formed in the initial part in the tunnel by the “purple” one and in the final part by the “magenta” routewhich saves the 1bis in the wooded section, guarantees Tarquinia a junction for the highway and joins the A12 without building a new connection, asking that the State enters “on tiptoe” into our territory, after all the easements imposed.

Today Anas will make his conclusions known. The M5S will be present.
