Nothing to be done, An Brescia didn’t manage to make the necessary effort to extend the series and try to reach the final goal. Even in game 2, within the friendly walls of Mompiano, Savona won 4 to 6 and snatched the pass for the decisive challenge against the usual Pro Recco.
It was a tough game, balanced until the third quarter. A match essentially blocked also in light of the stakes. Suffice it to say that only one goal was scored in the first half, that of the guests in superiority with Figlioli’s trajectory to beat Tesanovic. Tension rises and the referees send off Renzuto among the Brescians and Bruni among the Ligurians, while Dolce has the penalty saved for a possible 1-1.
In the third period Savona increased the gap by scoring two goals, but the Lions did not give up and in the last period managed to break free led by captain Alesiani (author of a brace). However, the opponents held on and actually responded. It’s the usual Irving who keeps his team afloat with the goal to bring the score to minus 2, but once again Figlioli kills Brescia’s last hopes with a penalty.
Just before the end Faraglia adjusted the score by scoring AN’s fourth goal, but now there was little that could be done. The Lions only have to honor the final for third/fourth place against Ortigia on 22, 25 and possibly 29 May.
“If we honestly look at the whole year, it’s right that they make the final – said coach Sandro Bovo at the end – For us, reaching the final was ambitious and it was a goal. Then what happened in the Italian Cup happened, but that is not part of the objectives. This final was a goal, but objectively in four games they put us behind. There is nothing to say.”
