Mafia: assets worth one million euros confiscated in Palermo

PALERMO, 09 MAY – The Carabinieri of the investigative unit of the provincial command of Palermo have carried out a provision from the prevention measures section of the court with which, with a ruling from the Supreme Court, the first degree confiscation issued in February 2022 was declared irrevocable, against Mario Marchese who died on 14 April 2016. The assets attributable to the heirs for one million euros have definitively become part of the assets of the State. Mario Marchese was born in Monreale on January 1, 1939 and was sentenced to a maxi trial and more recently, according to investigations by the Carabinieri, he returned to assume a managerial role within the mafia district of Villagrazia and Santa Maria di Gesù, as well as emerged from the 2016 court precautionary order, issued shortly before his death. According to the military investigations coordinated by the prosecutor’s office, the assets of Marchese and his heirs were the result of his illicit activities. Two homes in Villagrazia in Palermo and an individual business also in the Sicilian capital with fuel distribution activities and all company assets were confiscated. (HANDLE).
