Today’s edition of “Il Corriere dello Sport” focuses on Palermo’s attack and in particular on the Brunori-Soleri duo.
In the context of a Palermo struggling with various challenges but still in the running for the playoffs, two certainties clearly emerge: Brunori and his faithful ally Soleri. The attackers, in excellent form, returned to scoring together after a season characterized by continuous tactical changes. In the last match, both Brunori and Soleri found their way to the goal. Palermo now needs to win in Bolzano, interrupting a long winless streak, to keep their playoff hopes alive.
The Impact of Brunori and Soleri
Matteo Brunori: With 66 total goals in the last three seasons (including cup goals), his consistency is impressive. He has already equaled his personal record in Serie B with 17 goals, and now aims to surpass it in the playoffs to bring Palermo to Serie A.
Edward Soleri: Despite only starting four times, he still scored 6 goals this season (5 in the league and 1 in the Cup). His ability to score in minutes is a valuable trait. Furthermore, his ability to fight for every ball earned him a promotion to starter alongside Brunori.
Coach Michele Mignani declared, during the pre-match press conference, that Palermo must regain victory to boost the team’s morale. He also addressed the problem of performances in the second half, identifying the cause more in mental than physical factors. He then added that Gomes and Ceccaroni will not be risked unless they fully recover. On the goalkeeping front, Mignani praised the healthy competition between Desplanches and Pigliacelli.
