Spoleto, interventions by the regional forestry agency of Umbria

Spoleto, 9 May 2024 – Avoid the spread of fires and facilitate access for emergency vehicles. These are the main purposes of the interventions carried out between the end of 2023 and the beginning of 2024 byRegional Forestry Agency of Umbria (AFOR) in the Spoleto area.

Financed with the resources of Rural Development Program (PSR) 2014-2020 available for the years 2021 and 2022, the works carried out allowed the cutting of the vegetation considered most dangerous in the event of fires, through interventions aimed at avoiding their spread. Not only. Thanks to the availability of approximately €290,000.00 interventions were also carried out to improve the road surface to facilitate access for emergency vehicles in case of need.

Specifically, between the end of 2023 and the first four months of 2024, the works to create the firebreaks and the functional restoration of the roads affected the “Castagnacupa-Catinelli – Pompagnano” areas ( 87,432.56), “Valle San Martino-Montebibico” ( 76,588.06), “Acqualafossa” ( 30,453.44), “Balduini Castagnacupa” (€26,117.56), “Meggiano Montelirossi” ( 32,333.56) and “Bazzano Mountain” ( 35,691.06).

For the works carried out by Afor, together with the technicians and workers who physically carried out the interventions, the municipal administration thanked the Sole Administrator, Dr. Manuel Maraghelli, the manager of the Design and Works Management Service, Dr. Andrea Marchesini and the Manager of the Spoleto Department, surveyor Francesco Capoccia.
