The green of an equatorial forest is intertwined with the trajectories of integrated circuits, in the evocative manifesto of Inteatro 2024. Artificial intelligence at the service of the environment and its protection, which have always been flags of the Polverigi festival, are at the center of the week which, from Tuesday 18th to Sunday 23rd June, will characterize the Marche solstice with research shows.

The allusive title

“Human non-human” is the title, alluding to the controversial 1969 film directed by Mario Schifano. Between human and non-human, is there perhaps the superman, Nietzsche’s Übermensch, or the subhuman? Between Ancona and Polverigi, we will try to ask the artists invited to a festival held, again, in two locations. From the 18th to the 20th, in fact, the spaces of the Teatro delle Muse will host the opening shows, all Italian premieres, or exclusive ones, such as “asses.masses”, at the Ridotto, at 6pm on Tuesday and Thursday. Warning: this is a video game created by Canadians Patrick Blenkarn and Milton Lim, which requires public participation, for a 7-hour marathon, interspersed with convivial moments. Meanwhile, at the Salone delle Feste delle Muse, at 7pm, 7.45pm and 8.30pm, from Tuesday to Thursday, the company Le Stanze Segrete di S. presents “Room #5 Hide”, a version of “The Strange Case of Doctor Jeckill and Mr Hyde” by Robert Louis Stevenson: the transformation of the mild-mannered Jeckill into a ruthless killer takes place in a giant pop-up book. And on Wednesday 19th, at 9pm in the Sala Grande, artificial intelligence comes into play with “Una isla” by the Catalan Agrupación Señor Serrano, which prefigures a futuristic and collaborative scenario (the call for 8 dancers can be found on the Marche Teatro website).

The second part

Inteatro then returns to Polverigi, with a very full weekend. From Friday to Sunday, at 6pm in the Park, Daniele Catalli presents, for the first time, “Greetings and kisses”: special postcards from the most polluted tourist destinations in the world. This is followed, at 7pm on Friday and Saturday, in the courtyard of Villa Nappi, by the Italian premiere of “Hammamturgia”, by the Societat Doctor Alonso company. And at 8pm on Friday, in the Park, Roberta Racis brings to the stage “White Act (en plein air)”, a site-specific show, which inaugurates a trilogy on the theme of roots and family heritage. The first evening of Polverigi, June 21st, continues at the Teatro della Luna, at 9pm, with the English company Forced Entertainment which brings, in an exclusive Italian premiere, “Signal to Noise”, fragments of text processed by AI, which mix to interior monologues, unfinished jokes and off-topic interviews (repeat on Saturday). It closes at 10.30pm, back in the Park, with the Oroboro collective presenting “Interloop”, a DJ set with dance to live music and video images. On Saturday and Sunday, interspersed with the reruns, three absolute novelties: on the 22nd at 8pm, in the Park, preview of “Atoms for Peace” by Annalì Rainoldi, which imagines the transformation of each dancer into an atom. And, at 10.30pm, the Catalan company Nyamnyam presents the Italian premiere of “Lugar” (repeat on Sunday at the same time). Finally, the grand finale with dance: on Sunday at 7pm, in the courtyard of Villa Nappi, there are Alessandra and Roberta Indolfi in “I didn’t ask (I) to come into the world”; at 8pm, in the Park, the Italian premiere of Iole La Sala in “From Off to On”. And at 9pm, at the Teatro della Luna, Massimo Monticelli presents the preview of “Night Anthology”, a meeting between dance and poetry.
