Olbia. Moby ready to sell tugboats to MSC

OLBIA. While in Olbia the Maritime Directorate is discussing the need to equip the port with two active tugboats to avoid the possibility of cruise ships turning offshore in the event of a not too strong mistral, the Moby group would be preparing to sell to MSC also the tugboat branch.

The news recently released by the online maritime transport newspaper Shipping Italy highlights how the operation is consequential to the sale to the Swiss group of the two ferries Sharden and Moby Vinci which would pay off the loan received from the Onorato group of 315 million euros.

The deed of incorporation of the new Tugboats Sardi Srlbased in Milan, appears to have been subscribed by Achille Onorato with 100% of the capital, to give you the entire Tug Division.

This, we read in the relevant meeting minutes, “has been operating reliably for over 50 years in the ports of Cagliari, Olbia, Oristano, Arbatax, Porto Torres, Sarroch, Portovesme, Portoscuso, Sant’Antioco and the bay of the Gulf of Palmas”.

It remains to be clarified – we finally read in the article – what the value of the tugboat division agreed with the creditor (and partner, holding MSC 49% of Moby’s capital) is, also in light of the imminent expiration of the service concession in the ports of the southern part of the island, and through which company MSC will take control of Rimorchiatori Sardi, given the no comment of the main suspect, i.e Mediterranean tugboats.
