Over eight million Euros are available to the two local action groups, with the related calls for tenders arriving to support innovative projects

Venetian Flag and Galpa Chioggia and Delta del Po, local operational units that bring together public and private bodies in the fishing sector, will have 8 million euros available to draw up their local action plans and support the relaunch of the regional fishing system. These are loans coming from the Feampa (European Fund for Maritime Affairs, Fisheries and Aquaculture) 2021-2027 – the total amount for Veneto is over 46 million – which will allow the start of the respective activities, presented at the Legacoop Veneto headquarters in Marghera in the presence of Antonio Gottardo, already at the helm of the previous Flag and responsible for the Agri-food and Fishing sector of Legacoop Veneto, of Roberto Pizzoli, president of Galpa Chioggia and Delta del Po and of the regional councilor for fishing Cristiano Corazzari.

The two Plans focus on the promotion of sustainable fishing, the conservation of biological resources, the innovation of the transformation processes of fishing and aquaculture products and the development of the blue economy, also in terms of tourism. For both territories, special attention is certainly given to the new challenges to be faced connected to the effects of climate change on the state of resources and the environment: one above all the blue crab emergency.

“As part of the national Feampa program 2021-2027 al Veneto, financial resources amounting to 46 million and 68,650 euros in total have been allocated – states Corazzari – In the context of the program, specific priorities have been identified for an amount of 8 million euros for two action strategies with their related action plans relating to the two Venetian fishing Gals. We are certain that even with this increase in resources, concrete results will be achieved which will allow significant development for the coastal areas dedicated to fishing and cultivation of both maritime and lagoon waters”.

“Among our priorities – explained Gottardo – there is support for all the companies receiving the tenders, so that they seize the opportunities to become more competitive on the market and create a system for the future of fishing”. For the Venetian maritime sector to which our Flag belongs, the resources made available through the appropriate tenders will be able to contribute to the maintenance and socio-economic development of the local fishing sector, also in light of the extraordinary changes caused in recent years by Covid, wars, rising prices of raw materials and energy costs, as well as the significant effects of climate change on the state of resources and the environment, starting with the blue crab emergency”.

“With the presentation of our Blue Resilience Action Plan, the preliminary strategic financial planning phase closes, carried out within the established timescales and in compliance with national and regional legislation – states Pizzoli – We are now entering the heart of the implementation with the opening of the notices and the construction of projects owned by and in cooperation with other coastal entities, let’s then get into the concreteness
of support for the fishing and aquaculture sector, in all segments of its supply chain. Particular attention was paid to local small and medium enterprises operating in the sector, but also to the environment, tourism, improvement of governance, research
and innovation, training and inclusion. We present an Action Plan that primarily supports the human resource that operates in the sector and its great ability to be resilient to climate and socioeconomic changes.”
