Voting has begun to choose the mural that will animate the small square in via Mercalli (for which a future naming is expected) recently redeveloped by the municipal administration of Reggio Calabria. A work that involved a synergy between the Municipality, the “Railwaymen-Fishermen” Neighborhood Committee of residents and the school community of the “Preti-Frangipane” Art High School.
In the past weeks, thanks to the availability of some high school teachers, a path had been established for the construction of the building work by the students of the institute, with a thematic subject that will be identified, among three various proposals, through a public survey.
The mayor Giuseppe Falcomatà, his deputy, Paolo Brunetti and the municipal councilor Giovanni Latella met the students and viewed the works that will have to be voted on, together with the director of the Frangipane Museum Annunziato Tripodi and Filomena Malara president of the “Railways-Fishermen’s” Neighborhood Committee “.
The demonstration by the Administration that the desire to collaborate does not remain just a declaration of intent but translates into something concrete. A work done under the aegis of “belonging” to the neighborhoods which must be typical of all citizens.
A mural in the square that will contribute to beautifying the neighborhood: a moment sealed with the municipal administration, the maximum expression of the most important part of the city, for an activity carried out with the neighborhood committee which works voluntarily to educate the inhabitants. All elements are an example of a civil society that functions, with everyone’s help, in compliance with the rules.
