Object of desire for 3 out of 4 holidaymakers, Puglia has once again been elected number one destination in the wish-list of the Vamonos community, the tour operator specializing in group travel.
Out of a sample of 2,000 members of the Vamonos-Vacanze.it community invited to draw up a ranking of the most beautiful regions in Italy, Puglia was chosen as the jewel in the crown of the Bel Paese.
«82% of those interviewed have already visited it, but for 65% of them Puglia still remains at the top of the wish-list, a probable travel destination also for the next holidays» explain the analysts of Vamonos Vacanze (www. vamonos-vacanze.it), the Italian tour operator specializing in group travel, which has one of its strongholds in Puglia, in the splendid Pugnochiuso, where those who want to unplug and have exciting experiences with new travel companions can count on on a resort located in the center of a true natural oasis.
«Here you are woken up by the chirping of birds and at night you can even glimpse cute mouflons running around in the centuries-old pine forest, while during the day you can relax on our beach, located in a private bay where you can tan and make new friends under the umbrella . Our group leader will also lead you to the discovery of typical trabucchi and traditional farms that bring with them secrets and recipes handed down from father to son” add the experts of Vamonos Vacanze which every day offers beautiful excursions to uncontaminated natural destinations such as the Tremiti Islands, the sea caves, but also for the characteristic Apulian villages such as Vieste with its typical trebuchets, Peschici with its breathtaking views and Monte Sant’Angelo.
A land of colors and intense images, which for 52% of those interviewed by Vamonos Vacanze brings to mind the unmistakable scent of the sea, but also the picturesque views of the countryside surrounded by trulli and farms (33%).
The most beautiful city in the region? Admitting multiple preferences, the Vamonos Vacanze survey sees Lecce, Alberobello and Gallipoli excelling on the podium. Then follow Ostuni, Vieste, Santa Maria di Leuca, Otranto, Castel del Monte and Peschici.
The most representative character? Most identify him with the now eighty-six-year-old actor Lino Banfi, originally from Andria, or with the forty-six-year-old Checco Zalone, born in Capurso, a municipality in the metropolitan city of Bari. But many still remember the famous singer-songwriter Domenico Modugno who was originally from Polignano in Sea.

From a more “tourist” point of view, at the top of the preferences of travelers from Vamonos we find the trulli of Alberobello, recognized among the World Heritage sites by UNESCO, the Castellana Caves, the Cathedral of Lecce and Castel del Monte , also a UNESCO World Heritage Site, built in the 13th century by Frederick II of Swabia on the Apulian plateau of the western Murge.

But the other food and wine delicacies of Puglia also gain recognition: orecchiette and bread from Altamura are among the top products of good food made in Italy, to be appreciated by sipping a good glass of Primitivo or Negramaro wine.
