ANCONA – A fire started this morning in the courthouse in Corso Mazzini. The alarm went off at the Palace of Justice around 8.30 am, which led to the building being evacuated. The court’s work had just begun. All staff outside, both the magistrates and the employees and lawyers already present. The firefighters arrived on site but the first flames had already been put out by an internal employee with a fire extinguisher. The fire started on the fifth floor, the tower c.

It involved two electrical wires in the ceiling that power the lighting system. They made contact and the sheath burned. The flames were noticed by an employee who raised the alarm. The firefighters checked the entire structure to exclude other similar problems and after three hours the court resumed service. No one injured. The fifth floor remained closed but will be reopened tomorrow morning. Restyling work has been underway in the courthouse for months, so much so that tower A has been closed to the public. There are also problems with the elevators. None in operation except for the one for magistrates.
