The school trip bus was unlicensed

In the spring period, time for school trips, the Rovigo Traffic Police have intensified checks on buses used to transport students.

“This year too – explains the press release from the police headquarters – the collaboration between the Ministry of Education and Merit – Miur and the Traffic Police regarding educational trips is renewed. Schools have the possibility to request the bus inspection service both before departure and en route”.

“The request for intervention from the Traffic Police is not mandatory, but is configured as a possibility determined by the assessments of each educational institution. During these checks, the majority of vehicles used for transport for school trips were found to be perfectly regular, demonstrating of the seriousness of our transport companies. However, there were some irregularities which were promptly ascertained and sanctioned”.

“In particular, administrative violations were found for vehicles with tires worn beyond the legal limits, iinefficiency of the seat belts, lack of hammers for emergency exits, lack of mandatory fire extinguishers on board the vehicles, inefficiency of the same because the inspection had expired”.

“In one case, however, which occurred in recent days, the Rovigo Traffic Police had to call in another vehicle in Badia Polesine to allow the students to go on the already scheduled trip as the bus inspected did not have the required license. In fact, it was used for the transport of people on its own behalf and not on behalf of third parties. A fine of Euros was applied to the company that owned the vehicle
430.00 with notification to the relevant Civil Motorization Office for the application of the accessory sanction of suspension of the vehicle’s registration certificate for a period ranging from 2 to 8 months”.
