The City Council of Udine approved, during Tuesday’s session, the executive project for the maintenance of road signs on the streets of all the city’s neighborhoods. This is an important project on a two-year basis which provides an economic framework of 640 thousand euros. 50 percent of the expenditure, 320 thousand euros, will cover interventions on the roads during this year while the same amount will be invested for maintenance works in 2025.
The municipal administration makes it known that these interventions, like the resurfacing of the most worn road surfaces, are aimed at maximizing safety on the roads, particularly in those contexts, especially in neighborhoods, where traffic is heavier and more people circulate. vehicles and people.
The planned maintenance will guarantee the return of functional signage, with particular attention to pedestrian crossings, cycle paths and parking areas.
All the roads under municipal jurisdiction will be affected by the maintenance, with the exception of the streets of the historic center which will be included in the agreement stipulated with the Parking and Mobility System.
The project outlines the maintenance works or, where necessary, replacement of non-luminous road signs. The lane lines will be repainted, the main road signs which are very worn and worn by atmospheric agents over the years will be refurbished or replaced, maintenance will then be carried out on the complementary signs, i.e. all those signs placed in correspondence with curves, points critics and obstacles to signal the danger, and finally the most worn toponymic signs, which show the names of the streets and squares, will be renewed.
According to the approved timetable, after the tender for the assignment of the works has been held, the first interventions will start in the summer. The first neighborhood affected by the maintenance will be Udine south, with the first interventions on the signs of via Pradamano. Maintenance will then continue clockwise for the other city districts.
The streets and avenues near schools, where significant traffic builds up during rush hours, will have priority in the intervention calendar and will see the new signs by the start of the next school year, approximately by mid-September. The maintenance of the roads around the cemetery areas will be completed by the end of October 2024.
