He collected further thousand signatures (the counter shows almost 1200) the online petition launched on Change.org by a group of citizens living in Massa to say no to the construction of the police station in the olive park. We, the undersigned, residents and citizens express our strong concern from proposal made by the Mayor to build the new police station in the Parco degli Ulivi. We believe that this decision would bring serious consequences environmental, logistics (traffic) for the entire community”, explain the authors of the petition. Among the motivations of the promoters, the possible environmental consequences are highlighted first and foremost: “the Olive Park is a green lung essential for the neighborhood and the citycontributing toabsorption of CO2 thus improving air quality and health of the residents”, we read in the text. “Impact on quality of life: inserting a structure like the Police Headquarters into this context would lead to an increase in traffic”, is the second main motivation of the promoters. For the reasons listed, the promoters ask the Mayor and the Municipal Administration of Massa to: 1. Immediately stop the plans for the construction of the new police headquarters in the Olive Tree Park, 2. Consider more appropriate and sustainable alternatives for the location of the new Police Headquarters, 3. Actively involve the local community in the process decision-making and listening to citizens’ concerns and proposals.
