Search 2023 salaries in every district

Syracuse, NY — Just two school employees in the counties around Syracuse earned more than $200,000 during the 2022-2023 school year, according to state data.

Thomas Colabufo, Central Square superintendent, and Christopher Byrne, Phoenix superintendent, were the only two school workers in Cayuga, Cortland, Madison and Oswego counties to earn that much last year. Colabufo was the highest-paid school employee in those four counties with pay of $215,156.02.

Most of the highest-paid school workers in the region last year were superintendents. They accounted for 17 of the 25 top earners in those four counties.

Syracuse.com | The Post-Standard obtained the school payroll records through Freedom of Information Law requests to the New York State Teachers’ Retirement System and the New York State Comptroller’s Office. The numbers reflect earnings reported to those entities used in pension calculations.

Syracuse.com will publish payroll information for the Syracuse City School District in the coming weeks. A look at the highest-paid employees in Onondaga County suburban schools is available now.
