MONTECELIO – Photographic exhibition of Leonardo De Cesaris at the Lanciani Museum: all the info –

A new appointment awaits curious and visitors on Sunday 12 May, starting from 11 am, at the “Rodolfo Lanciani” Civic Archaeological Museum of Guidonia Montecelio with the exhibition “In the shadow of the thousand-year-old olive trees” by Leonardo De Cesaris.

The exhibition is composed of a photographic journey of 15 exhibition panels dedicated to thousand-year-old olive trees of Luras in Sardinia, of S. Emiliano in Umbria, of Olivone in Palombara Sabina and of the centenarians of via Pomata in Tivoli. In a previous exhibition, De Cesaris was interested in the representation of trees in urban contexts. In the project exhibited at the Lanciani Museum, the photographer focuses on the most fascinating characteristics of the thousand-year-old and centenary Italian olive trees, also turning his gaze to the territory of Roman Sabina and the Tiburtino-Cornicolano countryside. The knots tell of the movement of the roots underground and the large stems seem like immense sculptures of unique landscapes.

The inauguration of the exhibition will take place on Sunday 12 May at 11am with institutional greetings by the Councilor for Culture and Public Education, Claudio Zarro, and the introduction by the Scientific Director of the Lanciani Museum, Dr. Zaccaria Mari. Subsequently, the photographer and creator of the exhibition, Leonardo De Cesaris, will speak.

The exhibition, ad Free admission, will be open to visitors until 31 May 2024 during the opening hours of the Lanciani Museum or on the occasion of extraordinary openings communicated through the social pages. Please note that the Museum is regularly open with free access on Saturdays and Sundays from 10am to 6pm and that, during opening hours, it is possible to visit the exhibitions currently on the upper floor.

Guided tours of the museum tour are always available at a cost of €5 per person (€3 for minors). For further information or reservations, you can write to: [email protected].
