Work in progress in Portici, in particular on the streets of the so-called market axis and in particular in via Enrico Arlotta: interventions at underground water pipes of particular complexity, as evidenced by a video reposted by the mayor Enzo Cuomo.
A short film captured by a technician demonstrating the difficulty of the operation: “I should give a medal just for this reason, for not having ‘broken’ things that would have created 50 thousand problems”, the words of the employee. The expertise of the workers should therefore limit inconvenience to a minimum for citizens regarding the road closures and diversions necessary to complete the works.

In particular, from 9.00 am on 7 May 2024 until 12.00 am on 10 May a temporary transit ban in via Poli, in the road section between via Arlotta and number 33, and in the same via Arlotta between via Poli and the Reanella courtyard. Then expected thereversal of the current one-way street circulation on via Marconi and in particular on the road section between the intersection with via Giordano and that with viale Secondo Melina.
Market axis, Cuomo announces new interventions
The mayor of Portici Enzo Cuomo released the video of the work in progress on social media, announcing that wider interventions will follow for the redevelopment and safety of the entire area: in particular, the installation of surveillance cameras at the entrances to the market area is awaited.
“Obviously these works will cause inconvenience to traffic but they will return an entirely redeveloped area to the citizens – these are the words of the mayor – Then you will install a system video surveillance connected to the ZTL which will regulate access, and the provisions relating to the regulation on trading in public areas will be implemented. The politics of doing will always win against the politics of chatter, at least in Portici and hopefully throughout Italy”.
