General Roberto Vannacci, candidate in the next European elections with the League, he is not welcome in the Brindisi area. On Tuesday 14 May he should have participated in the presentation of his book «The world upside down» at the «Conti Filo» castle in Torre Santa Susanna, but the event was cancelled. The news comes from the lawyer Raffaele Missere, organizer of the meeting, who explains the decision with the insults and threats received, which will be reported to the competent authorities as soon as the news of the general’s arrival is spread. «We made this decision – it is written in the statement – not because we fear the squalid offenses coming from environments accustomed to imposing their culture and children of a history that should be erased in a context of democracy. Unfortunately however, as happened first to Torre, then to Erchie and then again to Torre, these less than illustrious characters they influenced the decisions of who was to host us and who, through their local representative, had sponsored the event». In essence, the lawyer points out, the locations of the meetings were denied to the organizers and, he adds, «the comments at the bottom of the press releases reveal threats that we do not intend to come true. Evidently, however, this is not the case for some people.” Missere underlines that insults and mud were directed not only towards General Vannacci. «They went so far as to try to ridicule the organizers – he continues – and here we must clarify something: anyone who has anonymously attempted to ridicule the figure of any of us should have the courage to reveal themselves and reveal their identity. Anyone who believes he can make satire or political criticism while hiding behind anonymity is a coward. The coward who does not reveal his identity is a person not worthy of living in an acceptable civil context.”
