From 9 to 12 May in the center and squares of Verona, Venetian, Italian and Spanish specialties. A rich program of events for adults and children to discover flavours

Together with the Councilor of the Municipality of Verona Italo Sandrini, the President of AMIA Roberto Bechis, the President of Confesercenti Verona Paolo Bissoli, the General Director Alessandro Torluccio, some members of the board, this morning in the Tapestry Room of the Municipality of Verona, it was presented the event LE PIAZZE DEI SAPORI XXII Edition, scheduled from 9 to 12 May 2024 in Verona.

More than 60 companies of the Italian gastronomic tradition, carefully selected from hundreds of companies in the sector, will offer the best of their productions, accompanied by collateral events open to the public. For this edition, the special guest will be Spain, which, through some of the characteristic dishes, will help you discover its culinary culture.

Over twenty years of success, which saw more than 2,470,000 attendees, 1,668 participating companies, 1,100 students involved in the Teatro Ghiotto project, 760 taste workshops, 2 fashion shows, 700 musical and cultural shows, 19 projects developed to promote tourist, productive, cultural. Development of B to B in Italy and abroad and B 10 to C in local areas, 118 million euros of related activities in the Verona area. An event that brings an important economic plus to the city and the activities involved.

Cities and countries involved: Verona and province, Vicenza, Venice-Mestre, Lake Garda, Milan, Bari, Scarparia del Mugello, Nuremberg, London, Istanbul, Budapest, Katakolon, Izmir, Dubrovnik, Nimes and Krakow.

In the center of Verona, the typical products and the most sought-after food and wine productions in Italy will be exhibited. The most famous squares in Verona are colored with carefully selected exhibitors and retailers, representing the flavors of all the Italian regions. Dop, Docg, Doc products, but also particularities unknown to the general public, which thus reawaken forgotten tastes. Furthermore, to remain in the promotion of Veroneseness, a dedicated section has been included in the official brochure, containing the indication, also geolocalized, of the restaurants that have been awarded the RISTORANTE TIPICO VERONA plaque which will offer a themed menu on the days of the event. Inside it, there are the 269 HISTORICAL SHOPS of Verona, to enhance all the excellence and activities that keep the culture and traditions of the city high.

For the third consecutive year, Via Roma also turns colourful: space also for solidarity and social issues, with non-profit stands operating in the social sector.

A relaunch for the entire chain of entrepreneurial activities in this sector, today more than ever the driving force of our country’s economy. Bio-compostable crockery will be used, clean energy from renewable sources will be used, public water will be used and particular attention will be paid to the removal of architectural barriers. «Two great innovations of the XXII edition: the TEATRO GHIOTTO LOUNGE, the new dynamic area designed to enjoy, learn, have fun and be together. A lounge active every day from 10am to 10pm, with an event scheduled every 45 minutes. From show cooking, to the presentation of books, to in-depth moments with masterclasses and ending with activities dedicated to families and children. The other, the return of a European country: Spain. It will be within the TERRITORIES PROMO; after a 2-year stop, it will see the presence of a European country, represented by two traditional products: CHURROS (dessert) and SANGRIA (drink). A recovery in great style therefore, to enhance not Italian but European excellence – highlighted the Director Alessandro Torluccio. – Confesercenti is also attentive to social issues and to the numerous associations that operate in our area and dedicate time to supporting the weakest groups and people in difficulty. A message that we want to spread to raise awareness among the many young people who participate in the event, intrigued by the flavors, a way to bring them closer to the attention and support of others. Furthermore, thanks to the collaboration with some associations, on the afternoons of Thursday 9th and Friday 10th there will be two free tourist tours to discover the beauties of Verona, for people with disabilities, because culture must have no barriers. Le Piazze dei Sapori has some great news in store for 2025. Thanks to the collaboration with Viaggi e Cultura, we will board a brand new ship that will host 6000 cruise passengers from around 25 countries, mainly European. Next spring, get ready to set sail on a thematic journey to discover Italian and foreign lands and food and wine excellences.”

«Given the great success of last year, 23 specific influencers and creators from the world of food and travel will arrive in the city to talk about the event and our city – explained Vice President Alex Camara, responsible for communications. – We will dedicate a masterclass to them where the food and wine excellences will be narrated through their social channels. Furthermore, during their stay in the city, they will visit the beauties of the area through a tour dedicated to them with the use of Federagit-Confesercenti guides”. Creators and influencers who are young and not only, who also have family profiles and will therefore also attract a different audience, over 4,500,000 followers divided into the Instagram and TikTok platforms.

The event is sponsored by the Ministry of Agriculture, Food Sovereignty and Forests, the National Italian Tourism Board ENIT, the Veneto Region, the Province of Verona and the Municipality of Verona with the contribution of the Verona Chamber of Commerce.

All appointments can be consulted on the website www.lepiazzedeisapori.com, and in the official brochure. The ribbon cutting is scheduled for Thursday at 5.30 pm in Piazza Bra in the presence of the institutions and will be followed by a convivial moment with the cutting of a wheel of Parmigiano Reggiano aged for 60 months, the result of the work of the master artisan cheesemakers by the protection consortium .

The opening to the public is scheduled for Thursday 9 May from 12pm to 11pm, Friday and Saturday from 10am to 11pm, Sunday from 10am to 10pm. Entrance is free.
