ROVIGO – Knowing how to relate to others is a skill. To develop it, you need the right context and activities in which to practice it. He was able to experience it Michele, during his three months of internship at the Locanda della Casa in via Pascoli in Rovigo. At the end of which he resumes an interrupted career path, emerging enriched with new opportunities.
The Locanda della Casa is the new service with which for some months the diocesan Caritas of Adria-Rovigo has collected and relaunched the hospitality experience of the Capuchin Friars: an open place, in which to offer a hot meal, a coffee, a moment of sociality. “It’s a beautiful environment, a very lively place – he says – I’ve always liked being with people, I’ve always been drawn to contact with people. With this experience, new knowledge was awakened in me, I learned to get back into the game, because I had been at a standstill for a long time.”
Michele’s is not volunteering, but a professional integration path. Michele arrives at the Locanda early, opens and organizes the spaces and the first activities, welcomes the guests, registers them and finally rearranges the spaces until closing. “I like making coffee, even if I can’t drink it. He reminds me of my parents’ bar, where I helped out as a boy, and then took the course to become a barman.”
Taking part in an internship in a service like La Locanda della Casa requires a different commitment than that of volunteers, not only on the part of the intern, but also of the company. Zico Lavoro, the “zone” of the Rovigo social enterprise dedicated precisely to job placements, took care of the training project, placement and accompaniment, to ensure that this experience provided the intern with tools to find their own path in the world of Work.
The host organization’s ability to define a tailor-made project for the intern was crucial. “In this case we thought of a new task for Michele – he explains Mauro Rossin, Caritas operator – We have not identified him as another volunteer, but precisely as a new figure. And with him various innovations have been activated, linked for example to the reception of guests”.
The vocation of the Locanda, moreover, is not just to be a service for people in difficulty, but a place open to the whole community: “The internship, therefore, was interesting to open ourselves up, as well as to experiment a bit – he continues Rossin – I believe that in this it is important that the tutor is not completely inside the service, but has the possibility of observing it from outside. In Michele’s case, we were able to consider not only the management of this experience, but also the path he will take afterwards.” Because an internship can also be an opportunity to get help to better recognize your skills and understand how to enhance them in a new career path. “Michele – concludes Rossin – he knows how to be with people, it comes naturally to him. And this thing can be one of the resources that he can spend on a profession”.
This experience is also part of the “Gol in Rete per il Polesine” project, supported by the Veneto Region with the DGR 921/2022 “Path 4 GOL – Work and Inclusion”. Zico is a partner of the course, which carried out training activities in the classroom and then in the field, through work experiences. The role of the Rovigo social enterprise is above all to take care of the preparation of the internship and, step by step, what happens during the experience, through accompaniment and monitoring. To ensure that this opportunity is truly useful for entering or re-entering the world of work and building your future through it.
