The brothers Arturo Angelo and Italo Maurizio Testa are known by anyone who frequents local politics, not only from the right that has seen them in the military for decades, tireless organizers of dinners and get-togethers. Italo Maurizioformer Fim Cisl trade unionist in the Marcegaglia factory in Boltiere, where they both live with their families, was provincial councilor for AN at the time of Valerio Bettoni and is now delegate of the Forza Italia college in Dalmine. In 2011 he was deputy to the current mayor Osvaldo Palazzini when he had to resign due to a photograph in which, wearing a black t-shirt, he was giving the Roman salute during a rally in Predappio. His brother was also there. He then returned to the Council in 2014, when he ran for mayor, and then in 2019, but separated from Palazzini, who was re-elected at that time. And now stunned: «We had moved away, but now we were thinking about a single centre-right civic list. At this point we will need to talk about his candidacy again, on the understanding that he is innocent until proven guilty.” In the terraced house on Via Martiri delle Foibe, a female voice answers, making it clear that no one will speak. His twin brother Arturo Testa lives a few minutes away, in a condominium with unpretentious facades. With a surveyor’s diploma and an unbridled passion for his Sicily – he is president of the Amici di Riesi association -, every morning he takes the train to reach the regional offices in Milan, where he has been paid for at least ten years. He first collaborated in the secretariat of Alessandro Sorte, when he was councilor, then in that of Alan Rizzi and is now employed by the Forza Italia group, in particular alongside the regional councilor Jonathan Lobati. Humanly among those most affected by the news of the investigation.
«Arturo always arrives very early – says Lobati -. This morning (yesterday for those reading, ed), not seeing him, I wrote to him to ask him if he would miss him. Ten minutes later, I knew. I am truly amazed, but also convinced that both will be able to clarify their position.” In fact, Arturo Testa must have been ready to go out as always, if on his Facebook wall, at 5.47, he wrote calmly: «Friends and relatives, good morning and happy Tuesday to all of you my dearest». His social activity is very intense, including family photos, Sicilian sweets (in particular from the Nizza pastry shop, in Verdellino) and political activity, primarily alongside Alessandro Sorte, whose movements both twins have followed: from Forza Italy in Let’s change! and vice versa at the end of 2021. «Forza Italia is unrelated to this whole affair – Sorte remarks -. Anyway, we are a guarantee force and we trust that governor Toti and the Testa brothers can demonstrate their innocence». Along the same lines, the provincial secretary Umberto Valois, who highlights how the Bergamo area is not involved and says he is «perplexed about the methods and timing of the release of the news, at the gates of the electoral campaign of the European elections and of many Municipalities that will go to the vote between almost a month”.
