Cerva Municipality dissolved due to mafia, the prefect sends the Commission

The mayor was arrested in September for electoral fraud

The prefect of Catanzaro Enrico Ricci, after the dissolution decided yesterday by the Council of Ministers, suspended the political bodies of the Municipality of Cerva, sending the prefectural commission composed of the vice-prefect Luigi Guerrieri, the deputy prefect Salvatore Tedesco and the economic and financial officer Luciano Caridi.

Yesterday the Council of Ministers, on the proposal of the Minister of the Interior Matteo Piantedosi, dissolved the municipal council of Cerva and entrusted the management of the organization for eighteen months to an extraordinary commission “in light of the ascertained conditioning by organized crime which compromise the smooth running of administrative action”.

The mayor of Cerva Fabrizio Rizzuti, aged 50, was arrested and placed under house arrest on 22 September last year, together with a councillor, Raffaele Scalzi, aged 43, and a majority municipal councillor, Raffaele Borelli, aged 48, with the accusation of political-mafia electoral exchange, as part of a Carabinieri operation coordinated by the Catanzaro DDA which had led to a total of 44 arrests carried out throughout Italy.
