Lecce president Saverio Sticchi Damiani won the international “Maurizio Maestrelli 2024” award. Ironically, the awards ceremony will take place during a decisive match for the fate of Lecce, i.e. Monday 13 May at 6.30 pm at the Teatro Comunale di Latina (it will be conducted by RAI Sport journalists Jacopo Volpi and Simona Rolandi).
But in those moments, as mentioned, Lecce-Udinese will be played and Sticchi Damiani has already announced that he will not be present to personally collect the prize for his commitment at the same time. The award, chaired by Giulio and Massimo Halasz, is now in its sixteenth edition and is annually awarded to fourteen personalities who, in their field, have distinguished themselves not only for the results obtained, but above all for fair play and professionalism.
A recognition, therefore, not only for the work but also for the style of the number 1 in via Costadura who in recent years has stood out for his dedication but also for his calm and calm manner when it came to raising his voice in case of any controversy. The prize consists of a white ceramic sculpture representing a Nike embracing an “old-fashioned” leather ball, approximately 20 centimeters high.
In addition to Sticchi Damiani, the award goes to Demetrio Albertini (president of the National Technical Sector), Fabio Pecchia (Parma coach), Alberto Rimedio (RAI journalist), Vito Tisci (president of the FIGC Youth and School Sector), Maria Sole Ferrieri Caputi (CAN A referee ), and other personalities from the sporting world.
