Syracuse, NY — Former Louisville cornerback Marcus Washington Jr. announced Tuesday that he will transfer to Syracuse and play for Fran Brown, the coach who initially recruited him to Georgia.

Washington posted his commitment on Instagram.

Washington spent one year at Georgia before transferring to Louisville, where he also spent one season. He did not record any counting stats last year and had one tackle at Georgia during his true freshman season.

He came to Georgia as a four-star prospect in the Class of 2022. He has three seasons of eligibility remaining. He was listed last season at 6-foot-1 and 185 pounds.

Syracuse’s depth chart coming of the spring seemed to have Jayden Bellamy playing at one spot, with Buffalo transfer Devin Grant and true freshman Marcellus Barnes competing at the other.

Washington played almost exclusively on special teams last season with the Cardinals. Pro Football Focus listed him playing in every game but just two games and four snaps on defense.

He was coveted out of high school with offers from LSU, Florida State, Oregon and other high-level programs. He was listed by 247 Sports as the No. 147 prospect in high school, the No. 18 cornerback and the No. 16 prospect in the state of Georgia.
