Recycling and reuse of fabrics, Eco-tess arrives in Varese

To encourage the reuse and recirculation of fabrics involving companies but also private citizens arrives in the province of Varese Eco-card an experimental initiative promoted by the association Environment and Work and Legambiente Lombardiawith the contribution and support of the Varese Chamber of Commerce, which involves ten textile companies in the area with Confindustria, Confapi and Confartigianato, trade unions, four municipalities and separate waste collection managers.

The project, which will last 18 months and can also count on funds from the ‘Effetto eco’ tender of the Cariplo foundation, has the aim of spreading good practices in the separate collection of textile waste and waste management not only of industry but also of families.

The initiative therefore aims to have an experimental role to demonstrate what opportunities can open up for the territory. In fact, participating companies are offered opportunities in terms of reduction of pre-consumer textile waste and use of materials deriving from the recycling processas well as from the perspective of the declaration to be included in its sustainability balance sheet, but also in participation in the territorial network that is being established for the further developments of the project.

The municipalities involved are those of Malnate, Vergiate Cuasso al Monte and Luvinate. It will be up to the researchers of Centrocot’s MultiLab in Busto Arsizio analyze the samples of the collected materials in order to verify their experimental and possible recycling and reuse.
