it was occupied by dozens of people

During an extraordinary territorial control operation, the police discovered the presence of 23 people, Italian and foreign, all homeless, inside an abandoned building located in via Achille Grandi, in the industrial area of Bolzano. The building was promptly cleared out and the occupants were taken to the police station for further investigations. On the basis of the various criminal precedents, the Police Commissioner Paolo Sartori issued mandatory expulsion orders, oral warnings and revoked the residence permits.

Furthermore, two expulsion decrees were issued with detention orders at the “Ponte Galeria” repatriation detention center in Rome: the first for a 31-year-old Moroccan citizen, reported several times for theft, and the second for a citizen 39 year old Tunisian without a residence permit.
The Police Commissioner also issued a formal warning to the owners of the property, who so far have not adopted the necessary security systems to prevent access by intruders, to secure the building.

These operations are part of the extraordinary territorial control measures ordered by the Bolzano Police Commissioner, Paolo Sartori. The operational activities, which began last Friday and concluded on Monday 6 May, were mainly concentrated in the “risk areas” of the city, in particular in Piazza Mazzini, via dei Cappuccini, via Perathoner and via Alto Adige.
