The presentation of the course certificates took place yesterday afternoon in the Auditorium of the Mozzi Borgetti library “Babysitter in training” promoted by the Municipality of Macerata and, on this occasion, the municipal register of babysitters was presented.

Two months ago, the Municipality issued a public notice for the formation, on an experimental basis, of a municipal register of babysitters aimed at providing a matching service between supply and demand for a childcare activity of which resident families can avail of it for minors aged 0 to 12. The project, carried out in collaboration with the University of Macerata – Department of Educational Sciences, Cultural Heritage and Tourismis sponsored by the Regional Commission for Equal Opportunities.

The objective of the project, as underlined by the municipal administration, is to give working families and parents concrete support in reconciling work and life times and in managing their children – both in early childhood and during growth – and it also represents a tool for preventing discomfort in the family which, nowadays, manifests itself in many aspects. Furthermore, the project represents a temporary job opportunity for both students and young people looking for their first job.

The course, free of charge, included professional training in the educational field and an internship at the end of which a final interview was held with the issuing of a certificate of participation. The course was developed based on various themes: the identification of needs and knowledge of the various stages of children’s development, the child’s stimulus to play and carry out activities specific to his age, the management of critical moments, care of child and managing the relationship with the parents.

During the course, the aspiring babysitters also learned the practice of pediatric unblocking which represents a life-saving maneuver that can generally concern all members of the family. They taught the course Lorella Giannandrea, director of the Department of Educational Sciences at UNIMC; the university teacher Alessandra Fermani and the pediatrician Mirella Staffolani.

Yesterday afternoon, at the Mozzi Borgetti auditorium, the certificates were delivered to those who will form the municipal register of babysitters.
