ABRUZZO – “As expected, but widely denounced during the previous legislature, it did not take long before the emergency – urgency network showed, for the umpteenth time, its greatest fragilities in those provinces that have greater breadth in terms of square kilometers, i.e. Chieti and L’Aquila. The deficiencies and inefficiencies in Abruzzo healthcare present in these territories are in fact the result of a lack of planning and foresight already reported several times in the previous governance”.

This was declared by the Regional Councilor Francesco Taglieri, also group leader of the 5 Star Movement in the Regional Council, who urges a rapid and clarifying intervention from the Councilor for Health, Nicoletta Verì, regarding the absence of doctors on the 118 ambulances in the province of Chieti . Situation also reported by ASL2 Lanciano – Vasto Chieti itself.

“In the province of Chieti there are nine doctors who have resigned from 118 – explains the Councilor – six of them were winners of a competition for managers in emergency rooms and preferred to undertake a different professional path. A chasm has thus been created in terms of welfare regarding the interventions of medicalized ambulances which, by definition, are those that operate in emergency – urgency situations. Even Francavilla, a city which almost triples its population in the summer period, starting from May 16th, i.e. the day after the passage of the Giro d’Italia, will lose its medical ambulance: a desolate and worrying scenario at the same time, especially considering of the tourist flows that will crowd the town in a few weeks’ time”.

Taglieri asked to include the topic on the agenda of the first useful session of the Fifth Commission, also requesting a hearing with the Councilor for Health Verì “to explain how he intends to reintroduce the emergency – urgency network. Let there be clarity on how to proceed in the face of this serious shortage of medical personnel in the 118 ambulances operating in the Teatro province. DCA 95/2015, still in force, defines the parameters for the sizing of the territorial emergency – urgency network and establishes the minimum number of advanced medical vehicles and intermediate medical vehicles for the province of Chieti. The shortcomings that we denounce today are the result of the absence of planning and vision of the center-right that has governed the Abruzzo Region since 2019. Citizens demand quick responses and timely actions, there is no time to waste”, concludes the group leader of the 5 Star Movement.
