Yet another complaint about the working conditions of nurses comes from Susan Covelli, territorial secretary of NurSind Caserta. According to her statements, the nursing staff, particularly in the Pediatrics UOC with attached Emergency Room, is burdened with an unsustainable workload.
Backbreaking shifts and staff shortages.
In detail, the duty shifts include 7 nights a month for each worker, to which are added 3 further on-call shifts. This situation, in addition to seriously compromising the psychophysical health of nurses, also puts at risk the quality of care provided to patients.
NurSind calls for an urgent meeting.
NurSind has been calling for a meeting with the healthcare management for some time to discuss the organization of work not only in paediatrics, but in general. Trade unionist Covelli underlines that, according to Legislative Decree 81/2008, a healthy and peaceful working environment is essential to guarantee the quality of care and well-being of workers.

NurSind reiterates the need for management policies that promote the prevention of workplace discomfort and the well-being of staff. Protecting the health of nurses is in fact an essential factor to guarantee patient safety and the efficiency of the healthcare service.

In light of the above, NurSind Caserta urgently requests a meeting with the healthcare management for a proactive and collaborative discussion on the organization of work. The objective is to find concrete solutions that protect the health of workers and guarantee quality healthcare for pediatric patients.
