The recovery intervention of another part of the viale Timavo complex has been officially presented: it will host the important course of the University of Reggio, currently at San Lazzaro
REGGIO EMILIA – The new restoration works on the episcopal seminary of Reggio, which will affect the south-west wing of the structure, have been officially presented.
The construction site will extend over almost 6,000 square meters distributed over five levels above ground and a basement, where it will be equipped the new headquarters of the Nursing degree course currently located at the San Lazzaro campus. The transfer will allow an enhancement of the degree course in terms of number of students and laboratory facilities as well as a more direct connection with the Santa Maria Nuova hospital which can also be reached on foot from the seminar.
Students and teachers will have available 4,500 square meters of surface area while another 1,500 meters will be used for service rooms, warehouses and technical rooms for the systems.
Specifically, the venue will host 6 classrooms with 615 seats for lessons and seminars: 3 classrooms will have 145 seats each while the other 3 will have 60 seats. The construction of 7 multifunctional laboratories with 30 seats each with equipment some hospital beds for exercises.
Overall, the south-west wing of the Episcopal Seminary of Reggio Emilia will therefore be able to accommodate 825 students, bringing the capacity of the third university center of the Unimore headquarters from the current 1,165 student places to 1,990 with an increase of over 70%.
In addition to classrooms and laboratories, students will have at their disposal 6 new study rooms, capable of accommodating a total of 72 people, 5 refreshment areas and 15 toilet areas with 54 bathrooms. Two study rooms on the fourth floor will be convertible into a “control room” with windows open towards the laboratories to allow the evaluation of practical tests by the exam boards. The southwest wing of the Seminary will also offer 30 new workstations for University faculty and staff. 19 studios and offices (for one or two people at work), teaching secretariat and management offices will be built.
The works also include the redevelopment of external areas with the planting of 50 new trees and the creation of new car parks: 170 spaces for bicycles, 24 spaces for motorbikes and 24 for cars, of which 6 are reserved for disabled people.
