The Stadium has always been at the center of the city’s sporting activity.Rigamonti-Ceppi” is the facility where the Bluceleste football team plays Football Lecco 1912. The current stadium was built between 1923 and 1924 on a previous playing field, called the “via Cantarelli field”, which until then was the scene of the exploits of the main “city football” team, Canottieri Lecco.
The stadium underwent the main interventions on its structure in the summer of 1960, following the promotion of the Bluceleste team to Serie A: the lighting system was built and its capacity was increased. Between 1974 and 1975 other works were carried out on the lighting system.
During the 1980s the stadium underwent a substantial reduction in capacity, due to the demolition of the central stand built with tubulars in the 1960s, which took place in 1984. In 1987 a new stand was built but the official capacity of the facility always remained very also contained by virtue of compliance with the new rules relating to the public in stadiums.
In the summer of 2018, thanks to the will and investment of its President Paolo Leonardo Di Nunno, the Rigamonti-Ceppi pitch becomes artificial grass, becoming a real jewel. This intervention allows Calcio Lecco 1912 to have the First Team, Caps and Under 17s train regularly and to play all official matches, even in the most adverse conditions.
Currently the “Rigamonti” Stadium, which was also named after Ceppi, president of the Calcio Lecco club in the 1960s and the main architect of the team’s footballing successes in that period, can boast a capacity of 5508 spectators.
