Mayor Federico Basile and the councilor for entertainment and major city events Massino Finocchiaro today announced the new 2024 edition of RDS Summer Festivalduring a press conference held at Palazzo Zanca, a Messinasimultaneously with the remote one from the Multimedia Auditorium of the Milanese headquarters of the radio and television broadcaster, with the participation of the General Manager Massimiliano Montefusco and the conduction entrusted to Petra Loreggian.
“RDS Summer Festival returns to the city. Last year’s experiment was a success and we are proposing it again for this summer, thanks to the operational support of councilor Finocchiaro – said Mayor Basile – with some news regarding the location of the event. It will be Piazza Duomo and Alessandra Amoroso will open the event on July 12th. The important aspect – Basile highlighted – beyond the purely musical one, it is the desire of this Administration to continue the collaboration with RDS, also as a partner for other planned initiatives aimed at raising the visibility of Messina throughout the world”.
Councilor Finocchiaro continued by explaining the reasons that led the Administration to choose Piazza Duomo as the venue for the event “taking nothing away – said Finocchiaro – to the suggestive scenery of Capo Peloro, the new location offers, due to the large space, more possibilities for participation, a fundamental aspect since our objective is to offer music but favor the values of friendship, aggregation and social inclusion”. The Councilor then illustrated some characteristics of the format which will once again propose the village formula with attractive and entertaining stands this year too “an event, therefore, capable of acting as an attractor not only for our local community but also for tourism and with a strong impact on the economic fabric of the city. It’s going to be an explosive summer – Finocchiaro assured – in the name of the slogan In Messina the longer you stay the more you love it”. Beyond Messina, on July 12th and 13th, RDS will illuminate the summer in the towns of Senigallia, Pescara, Barletta, Palmi and Rimini.
