Fabio Bruttisporting director of the newly promoted team Caldierospoke to TuttoC.com to comment on the promotion to Serie C of the Venetians who for the first time in their history will face a professional championship: “It was an undertaking, we are very happy, it was something special that was not expected and therefore we’re still dreaming, we don’t realize it yet.”
When did you think you could do it?
“The truth is that we gained a bit of awareness at the end of the first round, when we were second, three points behind first. Then, as we went along, we believed in it more and more.”
Without taking anything away from you, in reality everyone thought that it could be a walk in the park for Piacenza.
“It’s true, they had a truly very strong team, in a city and a crazy square, with a sensational stadium. I must say that it was everyone’s thought, let’s not hide it, ours too, that the group could be won by Piacenza. We imagined that they would remain in the lead until the end. Instead we also beat them on the return leg.”
Now there is the Scudetto Poule.
“I have to be absolutely honest, I don’t want to diminish anything but it’s a celebration to be there. In short, we are still celebrating the moment: this is the reality and we haven’t even thought about it, I’m honest.”
You will be the third Verona team in Serie C.
“It means that Verona is working well. With Hellas there is a very strong and very beautiful bond, the head of the youth sector Massimo Margiotta is a fantastic person and with whom we have an exceptional relationship so we would really like to collaborate with them” .
What about the stadium?
“We have to put some things in place, but absolutely everyone’s thought is to play there. We hope the necessary work will begin soon.”
C will be a totally different world so are you already working on programming?
“We were promoted on Sunday, we spoke with the president because we still want to plan well but we haven’t talked about names yet, about anything.”
The ownership however is very solid so I imagine you won’t want to just make an appearance.
“Absolutely not, the ownership is solid and it is an advantage to have a president like ours, because he is an exceptional person who can make the C series. Our task will be to honor the category, we have no intention of just appearing.”
How would you define your team with three adjectives?
“United, supportive and strong because in the end they proved to be a strong team, also considering the competition they faced against Piacenza.”
But this summer you started out saying do we want to try to be direct rivals of Piacenza?
“Honestly, this summer we started by raising the bar, thinking we could finish fifth which was our maximum objective. Our transfer market was made up of 9 players who had been relegated from D to Excellence and then we found ourselves finishing first It was a great satisfaction: good guys.”
