“Restart immediately with the discussions on health and safety, Pnrr and on the hiring of labor inspectors which are still blocked in Sicily today. It is necessary for the regional government to take action as soon as possible and for this reason today we asked the Prefect of Palermo, Massimo Mariani, to intervene”. This is the appeal of CGIL, CISL and UIL Sicilia, led by Alfio Mannino, Sebastiano Cappuccio and Luisella Lionti, who together with the categories and workers participated in the strike and then in the summit in the Prefecture after the Casteldaccia massacre. The trade union organizations have once again asked that “the regional government implements every useful initiative to increase the workforce of inspectors, which are essential to guarantee that employers implement all the obligations required by law regarding safety. Companies that do not respect safety laws must be sanctioned – the unions continue – and more training is needed for all workers. The culture of prevention is fundamental and must start from schools.”
