Weather in Palermo from 7 to 10 May 2024

Sicily, currently experiencing a stable, sunny and rather mild period, is preparing to welcome a worsening of the weather. Francesco Nucera, an expert on 3bmeteo.com. Starting tomorrow (Wednesday) a disturbance will bring widespread rainfall, marking a clear change in the island’s atmospheric conditions. First signs of the change starting late today.

“From tomorrow morning – explains the meteorologist – there will be scattered rainfall in the Trapani area and in the Agrigento area. As the hours pass, the phenomena will extend to all the Sicilian provinces, intensifying until they turn into showers or thunderstorms, locally strong , in particular in the provinces of Agrigento, Palermo, Enna and Caltanissetta. Rain, albeit to a lesser extent, will also wet the provinces of Ragusa, Syracuse and Catania and will be less likely in the Messina area”.

This rainfall is particularly awaited, as it will bring relief to the persistent drought plaguing the island. Furthermore, temperatures will drop, with a decrease of 4-6 degrees compared to the previous day, recording maximums that will fluctuate on average between 18 and 20 degrees. The values will drop, albeit slightly below the seasonal averages.

Thursday will still be characterized by instability, with rain and showers that will concentrate more on the Tyrrhenian sides of Sicily. Temperatures will remain stationary or show a slight increase, while moderate winds will blow from the northern quadrants.

The improvement in weather conditions is expected from Friday, although some uncertainty will remain in the provinces of Catania and Syracuse, where some rain or brief showers are expected, especially in inland areas. Temperatures, however, will begin to rise, reaching widely above 21-23 degrees, higher in the Agrigento area.
